“Open the unmarked door, climb the Cuban marble staircase, and discover a world of linen-draped four-posters, a patio of tropical foliage, soft lights and rustic seating, and a living room with a vintage piano, honesty bar, and a striking piece of Cuban art.”

“Gardens is one of the loveliest casas you can rent in Cuba. [It’s] a classic old-town mansion, bedrooms set along one side of a first-floor courtyard. But the decoration is strikingly different. Rather than small pieces collected during a life spent travelling, here the furniture comes from Cuba. Sofas are rustic but comfortable, lamps created from reclaimed metal. It’s hard to emphasise how difficult it is to source quality goods as Cuba struggles. So Gardens is a feat of stunning ingenuity.”

“The four bedrooms, palm-shaded courtyard, peaceful reading room and lobby with its grand piano encapsulate old-world Cuban charm”

“Gardens is a restoration effort that leaned on the savvy and skill of the surrounding community. The result, complete with round-the-clock staff and home-cooked meals, is a space that is uniquely Havana but wholly unlike anything else in the city”

10/10 style and character. Tried, tested and recommended.

“We couldn’t rave about this place enough. The stunning house is in a great location in Old Havana and is beautifully decorated and designed. The staff made us feel at home and took wonderful care of us cooking delicious breakfasts, providing refreshing juices and drinks, and washing our clothes every day. The concierge service made the planning of activities worth it - highly recommend using it as we got to experience things we never would have including a day trip to Viñales and a local cooking class. We can’t wait to return and visit the warm and welcoming Cubans.”

“In researching a home for our stay, we wanted something that was both luxurious and authentic to where we were. Nestled in a typical street in Old Havana, it’s walking distance from El Capitolio, Plaza Vieja and so many bars, cafes and shops. Gardens is straight out of AD magazine! Meticulously curated on every level. From the furniture and accessories to the art and books. The pictures absolutely do it no justice. The staff felt more like family – Massiel, Chicha and Carlos took great care of us. We thoroughly enjoyed the freshly prepared breakfast every morning which included delicious eggs, ham, guacamole, jams, cheeses, bread, fresh fruit and freshly pressed juices. The fridge and bar were always stocked. We felt spoiled. They kept the house immaculate and Chicha washed and folded my clothes daily. I absolutely plan on returning with friends next time. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else. Still dreaming about our experience.”
